Padel below sea level

The Netherlands took to padel faster than almost any country outside Spain, and Amsterdam is its showcase. The biggest club is Padeldam at Sportpark De Eendracht in Amsterdam West — 13 courts including three covered ones, so play continues when the weather turns. In Sloterdijk, Plaza Padel runs nine indoor courts with panoramic glass; at the NDSM wharf in Noord, NDSM Padel puts five indoor courts inside one of the city's most distinctive post-industrial spaces.

Osdorp adds BP Padel with two indoor courts at Sportpark Ookmeer, relaunched in 2024. Between them, the venues cover the west and north of the city well — and because most courts are indoor or covered, Amsterdam padel is genuinely a year-round sport despite the Dutch rain.

Booking is per court hour via Playtomic, rackets rent for a few euros, and open matches are busy — the Dutch league-and-ladder culture from tennis has carried straight over to padel, so finding opponents at your level is easy. Evening slots go first, as everywhere; weekday daytime hours are the reliable way in for beginners. One practical note for newcomers: bring court shoes with grip, since smooth-soled sneakers slide on the sand-dressed turf.

Start indoors at Plaza Padel or NDSM — no wind off the IJ, honest bounces, and rental rackets at the desk. Open matches will find you opponents at your level.

Quick questions

How many padel venues does Amsterdam have?

This guide lists four verified venues with about 29 courts between them — Padeldam (the city's biggest, 13 courts), Plaza Padel (9 indoor), NDSM Padel (5 indoor) and BP Padel (2 indoor). More clubs are opening across the metro area.

Can I play padel in Amsterdam in winter?

Yes — most Amsterdam courts are indoor (Plaza, NDSM, BP) or covered (three of Padeldam's courts), so the season runs year-round regardless of the weather.

How much does a court cost in Amsterdam?

Courts are booked per hour and split by four players. Current rates are shown on each club's Playtomic page — weekday daytime slots are the cheapest and easiest to get.

How do I find people to play with?

Through open matches on Playtomic — state your level, book a single spot and get matched with three others. Amsterdam's racket-sport culture makes level-based matching work very well.
